Do you know who you are?

This is a commonly asked question isn’t it? Either we ask of ourselves – “Do I know who I am” silently or others do tend to ask openly – rather incredulously – “Do you know who you are?”

My intention in asking this question is not based on disbelief or distrust, but an open invitation to explore together, genuinely, who we are.  Because, in trying to answer that question, we uncover the process of change that is happening constantly within ourselves.  It all depends where we put the emphasis in asking the question.

DO you know who you are?

do YOU know who you are?

do you know WHO you are?

do you know who YOU are?

Every spiritual treatise implores us to ‘know thyself’. What is it that we have to know about ourselves?  Our star sign, our personality type, our securities or insecurities, our possessions, our attachments that give shape to us – what is it that we have to know about ourselves? Why do we even have to bother to know about ourselves?

Because, without self-knowledge we cannot proceed further along the path to attaining lasting peace and happiness. Self-knowledge leads to self-confidence all the way to self-realisation.  There are a few other terms to be inserted there, but that is for later.  For the moment let us stay together on exploring the question that leads to self-knowledge.

Think about that question –  “Do you know who you are” or “Do I know who I am” and think about which word you put emphasis on and explore what it means in future blogs.  That should start the process of self-discovery.

What do you think? Let me know

Until next time

With Love and Respect
