Lift The Covering of My Soul

Desert dust storm

As the pages of my life turn

With seasons changing tirelessly in a row,

As days roll into years

This is the only prayer

That surges forward

From the depths of my Soul.

Let not the days

burden and weigh me down.

Even as the hammer strokes of guilt,

The crashing waves of worry,

And the sandstorms of anxiety

Continuously hit the lid of my Soul

Clamping shut,

Let me remember

That the deep crevices

Carved by wind, water and grit

Make me who I am.

So, let the bubbles of Your Love

Be the hydraulic pressure

And lift the covering of my Soul

To reveal its blemished beauty.
