Violence against women is normalized, pushed under carpet and accepted. Our films are violent, our media is violent. Violence has become pervasive, clouding our minds. We tend to turn a blind eye because it is overwhelming and we feel helpless. Helpless to cause a change singularly.
But here is a movement, hopefully it is not a ‘one off’, a movement that is urging to rise against violence, especially towards women. www.onebillionrising.org
1 in 3 women on the planet are abused, raped, tortured, killed and some die as a result of the abuse. Most of the victims try to live a life, piecing together a puzzle that they cannot comprehend.
That is one third of the population – should we keep quiet? How long will we?
It is time to rise. One billion rising is a movement started by Eva Ensler and is spreading globally. A call for One billion people to rise – a third of population to rise – a significant number of people rising throughout the world demanding to put a stop to the violence through dance.
Watch this video that shows how pervasive and endemic violence against women is –
WARNING – it is quite graphic and disturbing, but a necessity to watch so we understand.
Here are some song clips for the rising – inspirational.
Download these, gather around, watch the video, listen to the songs and dance – even if you can’t join a group, or create one to have a public rising, do something at home. Gather with friends, and show your solidarity and support for this important cause.
Please, it is time to honor the one half of the population as equals and important members of the society. It is not about ‘power over’, it never has been. It is time that violence against women and girls has stopped and the Female Goddess energy is understood, accepted and honored.
Let the men who commit these violent acts understand that without women they would not have been on this planet in the first place.
Let the governments who keep quiet – open their eyes and do something.
Let us Rise and Dance and Strike and Show – Women are the most important people on this earth. Without women the world will not stand.
So, are you going to rise? How are you going to rise?
Please share your actions, not just thoughts, here.
Until next time
With Love and Respect
