Are You The Field or The Keeper Of The Field……

Did you ever question this? Are you the field on which games are played randomly?

Or….

Are you the Keeper of the field who decides what games are played, when and how they are played and in what order, how the field should be kept – manicured, well watered or allow weeds to grow out of control?

The whole of life’s dramas and how they affect us depend on that decision – does it not?

If I decide I am a field – I have  no control on what happens on that field.  Stray animals walk on randomly destroying the turf, creating pot holes, weeds grow indiscriminately and take over and before I know the field becomes unusable.

If I decide I am the Keeper of the Field – I tend to the lawns, mow the weeds, water the grass so it is lush and green and inviting, fence the field off so stray animals cannot enter, and only allow decent people who will respect the field to enter and play on.

Result – as you would expect – a lush green lawn with happy people on it.

This is what Sai Baba has to say about it giving a different analogy as well…..

This microphone before Me, must have been made by someone, is it not? The creator is not visible or known to you presently, but you have no doubts of this person’s existence. Besides, you are confident that this person understands and knows fully well all the components, characteristics, features and effective functioning of this microphone. So too, there must be a Creator for this Universe and He must know all about it. This Universe is composed of the five elements, and He is their Manipulator, fully aware of their subtle characteristics and properties. That Creator is your Indweller (Kshetrajna), who knows His Field (Kshethra). Hold on to Him and live your lives; you will not slip. Build your activities on that basis, your career will not cave in. You will develop courage and faith in yourself and in your destiny.

The key words here are “Indweller who knows his field”….Yes, we have that in all of us and when we operate from that perspective, life’s dramas happen on the field and we can detach from the drama.

So, what do you want to be – Keeper of the Field who knows his Field, building your activities on that basis….or?????

What do you say? Would love to hear from you all

Until next time

With Love and Respect

  1. I’m a naturalist and an activist for the preservation of natural landscapes. Guess that makes me the field, though I do a lot of keeping the field, also. So I found this a bit confusing in application.

    • Michelle, this is not meant to be a literal interpretation. Here the Field is the Body and Mind and the Keeper of Field is the Core that resides in you and me and all of us that should drive us – the creator within…I will leave it here for you decipher the metaphor. Thanks for taking time to read and comment
