Life, Death and Easter Bunny…

It is Good Friday today.  A day when Jesus Christ has sacrificed himself so we can wake up to His message of Love.

His message of Love and Hope is universal in its nature.  Whether we are Christian or not, whether we believe in Christ or not, it is not difficult to accept that a man named Jesus lived a few thousand years ago and was cruelly punished for asking people to like and love each other, to do to others what they would do to themselves – is it?

We are happy to follow the commercialized traditions of Easter and are grateful to have a break from the routine but not consciously remember the significance of these few days, unless one is a staunch christian.

Why is it hard to ponder on the subjects of Death, Life and Hope that this sacred time represents?

We know that Easter is not about bunny rabbits and chocolate eggs.

Easter is about Life, Death and Life – a continuing cycle that we see all around us and within us.

Easter is about hope – a four letter word that our lives hinge upon.

We live everyday of our lives wanting something to happen with a feeling of expectation and desire.  We die each passing minute with the hope that the next minute will hatch the greatest possibility that it holds.

The dying minute holds the impending birth of a new space in which reside the unspoken messages we need to hear the most.  Eggs symbolize that hope – hope for a new life, a new beginning built from the ashes of the one gone before.   Something has to die for something else to be born.  If we believe in the legend, we know that Jesus died on the cross and came back to life two days later.  He sacrificed himself so we can live.

Good Friday symbolizes that sacrifice.  What can we sacrifice within ourselves so we can live?  Why not we take a little time today and ponder on that?  We have plenty within us that we don’t like and feel trapped with.

How about we sacrifice our judgments, our non-acceptance of ourselves and others, our doubts, worries, anxieties, guilt, shame.

What happens when we sacrifice those tendencies?

Easter represents resurrection.  A resurrection of our capacity to Love unconditionally and abundantly.

Let us allow our inherent Easter Bunny to give life to our humanness where Love resides, Truth reigns, Right Conduct directs, Peace prevails and Non-Violence is firmly rooted.  These are our inner qualities that are dormant under the ashes of the negativity. Let us blow the winds of hope on these ashes and scatter them away so the life giving values shine brightly.

When we allow the Human Values of Love, Truth, Right-Conduct,  Peace and Non-Violence to take birth and shine from within, we manifest goodness, compassion and love in the world as a result.

Fear is the root cause of all negativity.  Let us sacrifice that fear and give Love a chance to rebirth so we create a world of love and hope for ourselves and the future generations to come.  This is the true message of Easter.

Happy Easter everybody.

Until next time

With Love and Respect
